Pramipexole

Pramipexole

Pramipexole History and Overview

Pramipexole hydrochloride, also known as Prami in bodybuilding circles, is a dopamine agonist that is very similar to the same compound that works with cabergoline.

The main reason for using this medication is to treat Parkinson's disease.

Pramipexole is very commonly found under the brand names Cipro, Mirapexin, and Mirapex, and while there are some generic varieties of these drugs, these are the main three most commonly used.

Mirapex is known under the brand name Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals.

Along with treating Parkinson's disease, pramipexole is also prescribed to treat patients with restless legs syndrome.

It is a drug that has shown many promising signs, especially when it comes to treating bipolar disorder, but there are many people who do not give it this label at all.

Function and action of pramipexole

Pramipexole is a dopamine agonist that works directly with the hormone prolactin.

When the level of dopamine in the body increases, prolactin decreases.

It is able to do this chemically because it works directly with dopamine D3 receptors.

It is also important to note that prolactin also works with D2 receptors and has an affinity for D3 receptors that is about seven times stronger than any other dopamine agonist in existence.

Given its availability and strength, the effectiveness of pramipexole is not surprising at all.

Not only does pramipexole have a very profound effect on the D3 receptor, but it also has a powerful effect on the nervous system.

That's why it's so effective in treating Parkinson's disease, and in some cases it's used to treat Alzheimer's disease.

Because prolactin acts on the D3 receptor, it can improve sexual interest in men and their willingness to engage in the act itself.

Prolactin plays a very large role in why men don't have a strong sex drive, and sometimes it can cause serious sexual problems if it gets too high.

Therefore, when men take pramipexole, it can increase their dopamine levels, which can improve sexual interest and sexual performance.

Pramipexole also reduces the time between sexual intercourse, so the need for rest or recovery becomes less pronounced.

Effects of Pramipexole

The positive medical effects of pramipexole are particularly relevant to the symptoms of Parkinson's disease.

First of all, pramipexole can improve a person's mood.

It is also used by many athletes to treat gynecomastia and to improve sexual performance, which is affected by certain classes of anabolic compounds.

In particular, nandrolone-based drugs and tren (although most serious athletes wouldn't think of touching tren) can be treated with pramipexole or similar dopamine agonists.

Rapidly elevated prolactin levels can cause gynecomastia, which is the production of male breast tissue in conjunction with elevated estrogen levels.

Even if estrogen levels are not high, prolactin can cause gynecomastia in men who are sensitive to it.

That's why it's important to take dopamine agonists like Prami or its sister drug cabergoline, and why gynecomastia can still be a problem if you don't take steps to lower your prolactin levels.

However, not all men have a problem with steroid-induced increases in prolactin, so using Deca Durabolin, a nandrolone-based drug, may not cause prolactin-related problems.

That said, this can be very dependent on the individual, in addition to the dosage of the substance used in the first place. However, men who take pramipexole have one more level of control.

Elevated prolactin levels can significantly impair a man's sexual performance, especially those related to erections.

Nandrolone is very notorious for inhibiting erections, causing erectile dysfunction, and many men are wary of taking it for this reason alone.

In most cases they will avoid it altogether, and this is completely understandable.

That said, the reason these problems occur is related to elevated prolactin.

You can avoid these unfavorable issues by taking a little bit of pramipexole, and you don't need to take a huge dose.

With the right hormones and a little bit of pramipexole, all these problems will disappear and the drug will continue to work without any unfavorable side effects.

Pramipexole can also increase serum growth hormone levels.

While not a huge percentage, for some men, a slight increase can be very beneficial for a number of reasons and can lead to much better recovery and deeper sleep.

However, this increase is very short-lived and usually only lasts for a few hours after the first dose.

Side effects of pramipexole

When it comes to side effects, there aren't many that you can't control, and most of them are related to the individual genetics of the person taking it.

They include nausea, upset stomach, headache, insomnia, muscle cramps, and general weakness.

In most cases, these problems can be avoided as long as you don't take too much of the drug.

When taking this dopamine agonist, you should always keep your dosage as low as possible to be safe.

The most common of the above side effects is nausea.

This occurs when prolactin is too suppressed, causing discomfort and the onset of illness.

This goes away with time, but it's not a pleasant feeling at all and should be avoided.

Even small doses can cause these symptoms in some individuals, so cabergoline should be the first option for prolactin control.

Dosing pramipexole

Pramipexole is usually taken by mouth in strengths ranging from 0.25 mg up to 1.5 mg.

It comes in the form of an oral tablet.

The dose for Parkinson's disease is higher than for other conditions, usually starting at 0.125 mg a few times a day and increasing to a maximum of 1.5 mg two to three times a day.

If you're using the drug to prevent gynecomastia and other symptoms associated with prolactin, or if you want to use it for sexual function, you'll need exactly 0.25 to 0.5 mg twice a week.

Always start with a low dose and increase the dose if needed.

Conclusion

Overall, pramipexole is a great option as a dopamine agonist for prolactin control.

However, many people prefer to control prolactin with cabergoline instead of pramipexole due to gastrointestinal issues with pramipexole, but it is still a powerful option for controlling prolactin levels.

Some people do not tolerate pramipexole well, so cabergoline is sometimes the next best option.

Using an aromatase inhibitor (AI), such as Arimidex or Aromasin, also helps to control prolactin through a long feedback mechanism.
